WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Dell Technologies and Purdue University have reached an agreement to establish the Alienware Purdue Gaming Lounge, marking it as one of the largest dedicated collegiate gaming facilities in the country.
Housed within the France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center in support of competitive and casual gaming initiatives at Purdue, the 2,000-square-foot space will be outfitted with Alienware’s premium gaming equipment. The lounge is expected to open in August 2024.
“We are honored to have this unique partnership with Dell Technologies, which plays such a pivotal role in the global technology industry, and we’re excited to implement cutting-edge Alienware gaming technology,” said Ian Hyatt, chief information officer at Purdue University. “The university strives to meet the academic needs and personal interests of its students. This lounge will serve as a resource for students to gather with friends and enjoy gaming within the community, while also aligning with Purdue’s overarching commitment to utilizing state-of-the-art computing technology across all fields of interest.”
In addition to casual gaming use, the lounge will provide an elite gaming space for students to train and compete in esports at the highest level by using best-in-class equipment. There are several esports and gaming organizations at Purdue. This offering also serves as a unique attraction for prospective incoming students.
