The Nevada football team landed two 2024 games on truTV as part of Mountain West’s new deal with truTV and Max that begins this season.
The Wolf Pack’s home game with Georgia Southern on Sept. 7 and its road game at San Jose State on Oct. 5 will air on truTV, which will broadcast 14 MW games this season in the first year of a multi-year agreement. No end date was given for the deal, although the MW’s TV contract with primary partners CBS and Fox has two years remaining starting in 2024-25.
Nevada’s game with Georgia Southern will kick off at 4 p.m. with the San Jose State game starting at 4:30 p.m. That gives 11 of Nevada’s 13 games in 2024 television homes, the exceptions being a home game with Eastern Washington and road game at Hawaii. Rainbow Warriors road games typically air on Spectrum Sports. Ten of the team’s 13 games has kickoff times set.
The MW’s truTV deal kicks off with San Jose State hosting Sacramento State on Aug. 29. truTV and Max will be home to four Saturday MW doubleheaders, including Sept. 7, 14 and 21 as well as Oct. 12. It will have games Oct. 5, 19 and 26 and Nov. 2.
“TNT Sports provides the Mountain West with a third national television partner to showcase the outstanding student-athletes across the league,” MW commissioner Gloria Nevarez said in a news release. “TNT Sports has always been a leader in sports broadcasting, and adding one of the top conferences in the FBS to its lineup will certainly be a benefit to MW and college football fans across the country.”
This programming brings additional live sports programming to truTV — which debuted a dedicated TNT Sports programming block in primetime earlier this year — and Max. This will mark the return of college football to TNT Sports, which last televised games in 2006.
“We are excited to partner with the Mountain West and bring these compelling college football games to truTV and Max,” Raphael Poplock, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions, Business Development and Partnerships, TNT Sports, said in a news release. “With this agreement, we will further expand our live sports programming on truTV while creating additional exposure for the Mountain West and its student-athletes across our TNT Sports platforms.”
The additional broadcast slate will supplement the MW’s previously announced 49-game national television package on CBS Television Network, CBS Sports Network, FOX and FOX Networks. Additional broadcasts by Spectrum Sports (Hawaii) and regional/local/school broadcasts will be announced in the coming weeks.
