A Cameroonian woman has come out to reveal that she is the biological mother of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson and beg for forgiveness.
For six years residing in Nigeria, she has been trying to reconcile with her two estranged children to no avail.
In a viral interview, she displayed a childhood photo of Mercy Johnson and her younger brother, stating that Mercy was born in 1982 at a Catholic hospital in Benue, not Kogi. Mercy’s name at birth was Magdalene Ngei, while her brother’s name is Martin Ngei.
She has made frantic efforts by visiting the chief of Kogi to resolve the situation. He reached out to Mercy and she confirmed she’s aware but needs a DNA test to confirm. They agreed on a date for the DNA test. When the woman arrived from Cameroon at the hospital in Nigeria, Mercy didn’t show up.
Mercy’s husband Prince Okojie was the one who showed up and asked her to pay for her own blood test, which she couldn’t afford. She was embarrassed because she wasn’t told initially that she was to make her own payment
She stated that she is not looking for her daughter because of her money. “From my young age to this old age, nobi Mercy di feed me. For six years way I dey here…nobi Mercy di pay my house rent”
She asserted that she wants to reconcile with her children before living this earth.
She reached out to Francis Duru, who communicated with Mercy Johnson on her behalf. Mercy promised to get back to her, but for several years, Mercy hasn’t reached out.
The Cameroonian woman reiterated that if there’s any doubt, she is ready to undergo a DNA test.
DID SHE ABANDON MERCY JOHNSON ? SHE EXPLAINS
She described how she had three children with a Nigerian from Kogi state after being married to him. When her mother from Cameroon arrived to inform her about her critically ailing father wanted to see his grandkids before passing away, she was 3 months pregnant.
She told her husband about it, but her husband said he didn’t have enough money to transport all the children to Cameroon. He advised her to travel with the youngest child who was one year old. Mercy’s father said if her wife’s father dies, they’ll all come to Cameroon and travel together back to Nigeria. But if he survives, he will send her transport money to return to Nigeria.
When her husband went to work out of town, he usually left the kids in the care of a neighbor called Pauline.
While she was in Cameroon, her husband (Mercy’s father) unfortunately passed away due to an accident. She wasn’t contacted about his death. While in Cameroon, she lost her father. She wrote several letters to her husband but didn’t get a reply. She gave birth to her fourth child in Cameroon, left him with her mother and traveled to Nigeria. That’s when, she discovered that her husband had passed on and was buried. Since she wasn’t financially viable, she continued to leave Mercy and her elder brother in the care of Pauline.
Mercy and her brother were adopted and she was unable to locate them for over 30 years.
“Heaven and earth know and Mercy knows say I’m the biological mother. Please Mercy, I no want make this one di drag you dey, this one di drag you dey. My own prayer; make no man lay curse on you say ‘I carry you nine months’…because the day I put birth to Mercy, nobi dey there with me. I no want hear that nonsense”
