Seventeen Power Five teams hit the 10-win mark last season. That number should dip in 2024 as conference expansion makes league schedules more competitive. Final record predictions released for each team in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten and Big 12 and 15 teams from the new Power Four project for double-digit wins.
The SEC leads all conferences with six teams hitting the 10-win mark this fall, per Brad Crawford’s projections. One team goes 11-1, and five finish in a tie for second with 10-2 records, creating a chaos situation for the College Football Playoff. The ACC adding SMU, Cal and Stanford creates weaker conference schedules, and we’re expecting the amount of 10-win teams to double from two last year to four in 2024.
Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Iowa all hit 10 wins in the regular season last year. Carter Bahn’s projections have two of those teams falling short of that threshold in 2024 and a conference newcomer replacing one. The Big 12 has two teams get double-digit wins despite the loss of Texas and Oklahoma, per Cody Nagel’s predictions.

Here are the predictions for all 10-win teams in college football in 2024:
KANSAS STATE WILDCATS
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (7-2)
Wins: UT Martin, at Tulane, Arizona, at BYU, Oklahoma State, at Colorado, Houston, Arizona State, Cincinnati, at Iowa State
Losses: at West Virginia, Kansas
Kansas State is poised to play for its second conference title in three seasons as rising star Avery Johnson takes over at quarterback. The Wildcats’ offense is stacked with DJ Giddens and Dylan Edwards in the backfield, and the defense returns seven starters from a unit that ranked No. 2 in the conference last season.
OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (7-2)
Wins: South Dakota State, Arkansas, at Tulsa, Utah, West Virginia, at BYU, at Baylor, Arizona State, Texas Tech, at Colorado
Losses: at Kansas State, at TCU
Reigning Doak Walker award winner Ollie Gordon headlines an Oklahoma State team returning a whopping 20 starters, the most in the Big 12. The Cowboys last won the Big 12 title in 2011 and should contend for a spot in the expanded College Football Playoff with this group. Oklahoma State has hit 10 wins in eight of the last 14 seasons under Mike Gundy.
NC STATE WOLFPACK
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (7-1)
Wins: Western Carolina, Louisiana Tech, Northern Illinois, Wake Forest, Syracuse, at California, Stanford, Duke, at Georgia Tech, at North Carolina
Losses: Tennessee, at Clemson
NC State has the easiest conference schedule in the ACC next season and is poised for its first 10-win season in 22 years. The early tests against Tennessee and Clemson loom large early in the season, but the Wolfpack face just one team in the top eight of our ACC power rankings (UNC, No. 8) after their bout with the Tigers.
CLEMSON TIGERS
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (7-1)
Wins: Appalachian State, North Carolina State, Stanford, at Wake Forest, Virginia, Louisville, at Virginia Tech, at Pittsburgh, The Citadel, South Carolina
Losses: Georgia, at Florida State
Clemson has two of the biggest games in the ACC next season. The Chick-fil-A Kickoff in Atlanta has set the stage for a huge Week 1 matchup between perennial powers in the ACC and SEC. The trip to Florida State in Week 5 will help define the conference championship race. Clemson projects to lose both, but it would not be a surprise if Dabo Swinney pulled out upsets. Watch out for NC State and at Virginia Tech.
MIAMI HURRICANES
Final Record Prediction: 11-1 (7-1)
Wins: at Florida, Florida A&M, Ball State, at South Florida, Virginia Tech, at California, at Louisville, Duke, at Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, at Syracuse
Losses: Florida State
Miami has been fool’s gold the past few seasons. Is this the year the Hurricanes finally break out? Mario Cristobal and Co. finished 7-6 last fall but landed one of the transfer portal’s top quarterbacks in former Washington State star Cameron Ward.
FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES
Final Record Prediction: 11-1 (8-0)
Wins: Georgia Tech, Boston College, Memphis, California, at SMU, Clemson, at Duke, at Miami, North Carolina, Charleston Southern, Florida
Losses: at Notre Dame
Florida State finished the regular season undefeated last season and is a threat to do the same in 2024. However, Seminoles fans shouldn’t discount the home game against Clemson and the trip to Miami. We’ve got some questions about the Seminoles’ roster after losing Jordan Travis and a handful of other talent to the NFL, but Mike Norvell’s crew is the favorite for a second straight ACC Championship.
OREGON DUCKS
Final Record Prediction: 11-1 (8-1)
Wins: Idaho, Boise State, at Oregon State, at UCLA, Michigan State, at Purdue, Illinois, at Michigan, Maryland, at Wisconsin, Washington
Losses: Ohio State
The Ducks have been trending up under head coach Dan Lanning and are poised to burst onto the scene in the Big Ten next season. Oregon avoids Penn State but has to travel to Michigan and face Ohio State at home. We’ve got them splitting games against the Big Ten’s premier programs and ending the regular season as a one-loss team for the first time since Marcus Mariota’s Heisman season in 2014.
PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS
Final Record Prediction: 11-1 (8-1)
Wins: at West Virginia, Bowling Green, Kent State, Illinois, UCLA, at USC, at Wisconsin, Washington, at Purdue, at Minnesota, Maryland
Losses: Ohio State
Penn State has hit the 10-win mark in back-to-back seasons and is poised to extend the streak to three for the first time since 1980-82. The Nittany Lions boasted the No. 3 defense in the Big Ten last season and return six starters on that side of the ball. Star quarterback Drew Allar headlines six more returning starters on offense. The offensive coordinator switch to Andy Kotelnicki will make or break Penn State’s CFP hopes in 2024.
OHIO STATE BUCKEYES
Final Record Prediction: 12-0 (9-0)
Wins: Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall, at Michigan State, Iowa, at Oregon, Nebraska, at Penn State, Purdue, at Northwestern, Indiana, Michigan
Losses: None
Ohio State enjoyed a monster offseason and is poised to finish the regular season undefeated for the first time since the Covid-shorted 2020 campaign. The Buckeyes are the favorite in three of their toughest matchups next season: at Oregon, Penn State, and Michigan. Oddsmakers have the least confidence in Ohio State’s trip to Oregon on Oct. 12, labeling the Buckeyes a one-point favorite in Eugene.
OLE MISS REBELS
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (6-2)
Wins: Furman, Middle Tennessee, at Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, at South Carolina, at Arkansas, Georgia, at Florida, Mississippi State
Losses: Oklahoma, at LSU
Ole Miss hasn’t recorded back-to-back 10-win seasons since 1959-60 but is poised to snap that streak in 2024 after an 11-2 finish last season. Lane Kiffin’s crew has a manageable conference schedule. It misses Alabama, Texas, Tennessee and Missouri. However, the trip to Death Valley and home tilts against Oklahoma and Georgia will be big tests for a team with College Football Playoff hopes. We’ve got them taking down the Dawgs in Oxford.
TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (6-2)
Wins: Chattanooga, NC State, Kent State, at Arkansas, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi State, UTEP, at Vanderbilt
Losses: at Oklahoma, at Georgia
Any SEC schedule that includes Georgia and Alabama is a tough draw in the 16-team era. We’ve got the Volunteers splitting the two with another righteous win over Alabama in Knoxville. The Volunteers drop road trips at Oklahoma and Georgia and finish in a five-way tie for second in the SEC. Tennessee owns the tiebreaker over Alabama in this scenario and should be going to the CFP for the first time in program history.
LSU TIGERS
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (6-2)
Wins: USC, Nicholls, Kent State, at South Carolina, UCLA, South Alabama, Ole Miss, at Arkansas, at Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma
Losses: Alabama, at Florida
LSU has the fourth-easiest conference schedule in the SEC next season and should take advantage of it with a second-straight 10-win season. The Tigers miss a handful of the league’s toughest teams — Georgia, Texas, Missouri and Tennessee. Their lone matchups against teams in the top 10 of our SEC power rankings — Ole Miss, Alabama and Oklahoma — all happen at Death Valley. We’ve got Brian Kelly and Co. losing to Alabama in Baton Rouge and letting frustrations leak into the trip to Florida the following week.
TEXAS LONGHORNS
Final Record Prediction: 11-1 (7-1)
Wins: Colorado State, at Michigan, UTSA, ULM, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Georgia, at Vanderbilt, Florida, at Arkansas, Kentucky, at Texas A&M
Losses: at Texas A&M
Texas’ rise under Steve Sarkisian is poised to hit new heights in 2024. A Week 2 win at Michigan sends a ripple of momentum through the locker room, much like last year’s early win at Alabama. The Longhorns then cruise through the SEC’s second-easiest conference schedule until the regular season finale at Texas A&M. The Longhorns have already clinched an SEC Championship and CFP berth and let their foot off the gas at Kyle Field.
GEORGIA BULLDOGS
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (6-2)
Wins: Clemson, Tennessee Tech, at Kentucky, at Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Florida, Tennessee, UMass, Georgia Tech
Losses: at Texas, at Ole Miss
Georgia has two losses in the last three years combined but faces its toughest schedule of the Kirby Smart era, putting its 39-game regular-season winning streak at serious risk. Smart gets his first win at Tuscaloosa but falls in Austin and Oxford in a brutal four-game stretch late in the season: at Texas, Florida, at Ole Miss and Tennessee.
ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE
Final Record Prediction: 10-2 (6-2)
Wins: Western Kentucky, USF, at Wisconsin, at Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Missouri, at LSU, Mercer, at Oklahoma, Auburn
Losses: Georgia, at Tennessee
Alabama has hit 10 wins in 16 straight seasons and is looking to add to the nation’s longest streak under Kalen DeBoer in 2024. A 10-2 regular season falls short of the Nick Saban standard but is a good starting point for the DeBoer era. Losing to Georgia at home and falling to Tennessee for the second time in three years stings, but winning the Iron Bowl and a handful of other tough matchups makes for a strong debut season for DeBoer.
